Coming from an anarchist perspective, there’s nothing to be confused about here.
Every state is evil and shitty, and they should all be abolished. (But especially states that invade other states and kill their people.)

It would be a less efficient boiler (because the ‘mirrors’ would be much less reflective), and much more expensive (because solar panels – especially custom-made curved ones – are much more expensive than mirrors).
Overall, I suppose maybe you could come out ahead if you used very efficient solar panels for it, and that would let you generate slightly more watts per surface area used…
But we really don’t need to optimize for surface area in 99% of cases. Almost everywhere solar power is used, space to install panels is abundant, and it would be much cheaper and more effective to just put one or the other of these solar collection methods over a slightly wider area if you want increased production. (And even then, most of the cases where production-per-surface-area is very important are on solar-powered vehicles, and these parabolic sun-tracking mirrors are impractical for use on a moving vehicle.)
At least hydro and wind power are still safe from the boiling water…
Ask not if you are useful to Lemmy. Ask if Lemmy is useful to you.

What has ever been the point of the US’s Cuba sanctions? At least since the end of the Cold War, it has been completely and utterly pointless.
China is also “communist”, and we do shittons of business with them. Why block off Cuba?

Just turn down the simulation speed real low and run it at one tick per 20 years, then you can technically keep it going without such great expense. The people inside won’t notice the difference.
Some modifications actually improve safety and efficiency, though.

And in particular, I found their collections of historical photos to be actually kind of interesting (and the only part of the experience that isn’t completely dumb and vapid):

If I remember right, this is actually just a hallway that leads to one of the bathrooms, but if you’re interested in the history of the old west, you could spend hours just looking at that.
Overall, Wall Drug definitely is not worth it as the destination of your trip. If Wall Drug is the main attraction you’re headed for, you’re going to be sorely disappointed. But, I do think it’s definitely a worthwhile stop if you’re passing by there on the way to somewhere else.
Like I said, it’s very conveniently close to Badlands NP. If you’re coming from the east, it’s also on the way to the Black Hills (worth visiting for a few days), Wind Cave and Jewel Cave (the 3rd and 4th longest cave systems in the world, respectively – don’t miss those, though if you have to pick, Jewel Cave is definitely the more impressive for a quick visit – oh, and there are other, privately operated caves in the area; skip those, none of them are nearly as cool as Wind and Jewel), and Mount Rushmore (pretty meh – best to just look at it from the road as you go by and instead spend time hiking the Black Hills around it). If you’re coming from the east toward those (better) attractions, then I’d definitely recommend:
1 - Stay overnight in the town around Wall Drug, visit the drug store if you have time before bed.
2 - Spend a full day exploring Badlands NP (more if you’re really into it, but a day is enough to see most of it casually).
3 - Stay that night in Wall again.
4 - Drive to Rapid City and the Black Hills the next day.

but then you get there and it’s just a drug store
Alright, I’m calling BS on this one.
It’s a huge ‘drug store’ with multiple restaurants, an arcade, and even an animatronic dinosaur. But what I found interesting there is that they actually have huge sections of walls devoted to historical photographs, dating all the way back to the old west era. There’s some interesting stuff there if you take the time.
(And, of course, Badlands NP is a 10-minute or so drive from there, across the interstate, and that is definitely worth a visit!)

Trump is a Russian spy through and through. He is doing everything to make sure there is no America to stand up against the Russian Behemoth.
Eh … I don’t know.
Why then start a war with Iran of all countries, one of Russia’s allies? I think a complete Russian puppet would start a war with a neutral country, or better yet one of Russia’s many enemies. War with Denmark over Greenland would have been the move for a total Russian puppet. Set NATO at each other’s throats, waste NATO resources, leave Russia’s allies alone.
Now, for sure, he does have quite a lot of Russian influence … but I don’t think Putin is the only puppeteer with a hand up this puppet’s ass. Trump basically listens to and believes whoever was the most recent person to talk to him, the most recent person to give him complements, the most recent person who took him seriously and inflated his ego even more.

On the plus side, every one of these that they fire at Iran is one that they can no longer fire at domestic dissidents…

How are you going to live in a place that’s 97% reliant on tourism and then be mad that you saw a single tourist?

I think I found the cassette player
Nah. The one in your link has round speaker grilles, while the one in OP’s pic have different shaped speaker grilles. Also OP’s one is missing the carry handle.
Does seem to be a similar model and likely related to it, but not quite the same.

That radio looks late 90s to me, possibly even early 2000s. Definitely not 80s.

Not worth it.
Security guarantees written by the current regime aren’t worth the paper they’re written on.
Nah, division of labor (at least to some extent) existed long before capitalism and will still need to be present long after. Not everybody can or should do everything for themselves.
Aw, thank you, friendly NSA agent!
Yep. Place is falling apart while simultaneously getting more expensive than ever. They’re trying to charge ultra-premium prices for the memory of how things used to be, while constantly skimping on maintenance and upgrades. We’re definitely in the decline of Vegas era.
It’s lonely, masturbating without anyone watching me.
Given that Iran has been giving support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, I’d say that’s fair.
