It’s the opposite, in my opinion. Krafton is the publisher, but right now their name is no longer on the game. So the Developers are self publishing, it looks like. But since Krafton fucked up so royally, the ruling is that if the game sells X amount of copies (I forgot the actual amount) before September, the developers still get the $250m. And Krafton gets no further say in the game and has no further say in the developer team.

Do the parasites get any cut? I don’t want to give them a penny. More important than paying artists I prefer to pirate or not play if the undeserving take a penny

The stipulation is that if enough people buy the game Krafton loses hundreds of millions. We’re talking a range from 145 million $ to 250 million $, provided the game sells between 5 to 12 million units. At 5 million units they will have made roughly 149,950,000 $ — which Krafton immediately loses all of.

This is all readily available information and has been common knowledge in the Subnautica community for months.

It’s like 3$ a copy the publisher is still getting $20+ of revenue per copy. It’s much better pirating it and donating $10 to the devs. Tjat way the publisher gets zero snd the devs get triple.

The game will need to sell 11.9 million copies at 29.99 in order for Krafton to break even.

Exactly that’s why we shouldn’t buy anymore dont let them get close to breaking even and then send more than $3 to the developers and everyone wins. If you buy it at $25 the publisher loses $22 less than if you dont buy it.

Use commas, you can look at the information yourself — all I know is they’re getting fined almost exactly what the game will make between a minimum of 145 million to 250 million.

Edit: the numbers work out to Krafton needing to sell 11.9 million copies in order to break even. The devs are getting paid, and Krafton is getting fucked.
