New York City has also banned AI for younger students as concerns over classroom use grow
Another school district has banned AI from being used in the classroom by students across all grades. While this isn’t the first ban of its kind that we’ve seen, what’s interesting is that it was introduced just weeks after the district started piloting Google Gemini for older students. Frederick County became the latest school district to ban AI use in the classroom this week, voting 6-1 to restrict the technology from pre-K through 12th grade. Initially, the board considered only banning AI for younger students, but eventually extended the ban through high school.
With how it makes people dumb so fast, I’m relieved. I also feel like they should be taught about the dangers of it too.
I wonder if one of their tech people was checking logs or something and saw scary prompts. Maybe one of these teachers was generating feet pics.
Good AI should be banned all around. It ruins critical thinking which is the exact opposite thing we should be teaching the kids.
It ruins it in adults too fwiw, but not relevant to this post.
Finally some progress. Hope other schools and districts follow suit.
How much money did the district waste on this that could have been better used?
they already spent too much money on AI, which already ruined peoples education already across all levels including colleges.
Someone made a fake nude of a student, I bet.
I’m thinking similarly, but my guess is feet pics. Something skeevy but maybe not necessarily fire-able.
Or faculty.
deep fake porn no doubt.
Good
