The internet is a brutal place at times. To some, it can ruin someone’s well-being. To others, it’s a Tuesday. But the apps I just listed can have stuff that makes you question humanity. So which one of them has the most comments that shows you the worst of humanity? And feel free to share examples and your reactions
Definitely Lemmy. I haven’t really used Twitter or Instagram though. When I visit Reddit, it’s usually just through search results.
Lemmy is often a very negative, dark place. It’s also lousy with armchair experts speaking with authoritative tone as if trying to demonstrate an example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
I definitely don’t feel like I belong here, but I keep coming back for some reason 🙈
Really? I’ve found it to be the opposite. I left reddit because things felt so toxic with people yelling constantly about how we need to shut up and get with the program, don’t speak out, corporations are good, etc etc.
Meanwhile here I’ve seen lots of people genuinely critiquing systems and lots of memes that are amusing. Are some of them darker? Of course, we live in dark times.
But I also see many groups of people sharing information on alternative projects and programs to not be so reliant on the capitalist systems, sharing posts of how people are fighting back against the right wing fascist takeover.
Hell, right under this post in my feed was this picture.

I’ve found more hope and inspiration on Lemmy than I ever did on Reddit. Twitter was full of porn and Instagram is just a bunch of liberals (centrists) reposting reddit and facebook lol. Basically, a pressure release valve so you can post and “feel” like you did something without affecting any change.

??? Like I’m a reddit hater, but man you gotta go looking for that kind of agenda there
Its objectively twitter/X.
Dear Lord, Facebook. I feel like my IQ drops 5 points just when the page is loading.

Facebook. I have to avoid reading comments on stories about transgender people because it’s depressing how hateful people can be
They are all unhinged in their own way but yeah lemmy is the wackiest for sure.
It has to be here because I don’t use insta or twitter at all and I’m only looking at reddit for the Japan-specific subs to deal with tax/legal/disaster issues. So, simply by volume, this wins.
I reported a post the other day because it showed people dying in gif that auto-played and I couldn’t avoid. That user later DM’d me and called me a coward, so that was a new one. I browse /new so anything I haven’t explicitly blocked shows up.
I see a lot of dumb or reactionary comments all over, but the most truly “what’s wrong with” ones? Here, unfortunately 😅
I generally understand what’s wrong with people on every platform except for Lemmy. Lemmy has its own strange where you really have to work at how they got to where they are now.
Recently i only lurk here historically 4chan by a large margin
All of them have problems. Lemmy is arguably the least diverse and thus the biggest circlejerk.
Hands down - Kiwi Farms.
YouTube comments always surprise me with their stupidity. LiveGore comments are unsurprisingly abhorrent
Most of the garbage or stupidity or contentiousness being posted on all platforms these days is all generated by the chatbots that are integrated into each of the platforms’ systems. There are literally zillions of them! It’s just the way it is for now. But at some point, I’m sure that this ridiculousness will be virtually nonexistent on newer and better platforms to come.
Since i am no longer on reddit or Twitter, i’d say IG.
