I guess it’s just a matter of feeling heard, everyone wants to feel heard, people make art for different reasons, obviously that wasn’t an issue for him at that point as he was already massively successful with Nirvana, I never really viewed Foo Fighters as much besides bubblegum music and that’s fine too. There’s nothing wrong with songs about nothing it’s all a matter of what your intentions are, he’s clearly very successful. I agree with you about Bjork and that philosophy, I’ve liked her since her Debut she’s just so charming and genuine. She makes music to change people’s perceptions of music, or to bring light to darkness, for others it’s just a means to make money or get sex, there’s a big spectrum out there. Of course not everyone is gonna be Bob Dylan. I have my mentors as well and when I listen to them I also have to fight the urge to think that I’ll never make something that good because that’s very defeatist and goes nowhere. Just do your best.
