He needs perpetual praise and love, it is never enough, which is because he never got any. It’s also why he is so petulant and childish. To grow as humans we need to develop our capacity for taking responsibility and admit our mistakes and shortcomings. He would never do that because he was already mercilessly stomped into the ground by his family, so would do everything he could to avoid the blame, even when he was at fault.
