Clear evidence that the top cause are guns and motor vehicles, editor chooses to show a picture of prescription drugs.
Yeah makes sense for the USA.
To be fair, of the three leading causes drug poisoning deaths saw the largest increase.
In 2023, 4,455 children and adolescents were killed by guns—a 3.9% increase since 2020. While motor vehicle crash deaths rose 8.6% over the same period, drug poisoning deaths, including overdoses, were the third leading cause of death, up 12.7% since 2020.
Dang even worse the one prescription label that’s in focus is oxycodone. Seriously, Yale?
Well we’re not gonna give up guns or cars so.
Firearms remained the leading cause of death for the fourth consecutive year.
USA is a sick country, as in a society that collectively is suffering from serious mental illness.
I’m not saying it’s all Americans, it more like a cancer in a body. The cancer is not in every cell of the body, but it has spread enough to make the body seriously ill.
In USA there are so many insane people, that they are actively working as cancer cells in society. For instance some Americans will claim to the above quote, that guns don’t kill! The absolute most moronic poolitical statement I’ve ever heard, next to calling anti abortion “pro life”, when the anti abortionists are nothing of the sort.
Yeah, it’s our capitalist-first and me-first attitude that cripples us. It’ll never change as long as xtianity remains predominant here. They’re simply selfish bastards.
Yes and might makes right.
The problem here is your thinking it’s a toddler being killed by a firearm. It’s not. That largest group is 15-19 year olds. Who unfortunately are the high risk group for suicide. We should be focused on how to solve the why part of this group committing suicide, instead of focusing political capital on trying to ban guns.
Also a high risk group for gun violence in general especially in low income areas with gang violence.
Yep, it’s terrible. Poverty is driving our violence. If we focused as much money on our inner cities as we do with rich neighborhoods, I guarantee you violence would drop drastically.
When you add poverty with easy access to firearms you get the statistics you see here unfortunately.
The problem here is your thinking it’s a toddler
No I don’t it clearly states already in the first line of the article:
The overall death rate of children and adolescents
I just checked the causes of death for my own country, and firearms or other weapons don’t even register.
The reasons are Cancer, traffic accidents, other accidents, suicide. Below 1 year, it’s near 100% birth defects or whats called cradle death, where the baby dies suddenly in its sleep for no known reason.
Yes here too is the highest rate among the 1-19 year olds also between 15-19. But NONE are from firearms! And so few from other weapons that it isn’t even in the statistic. The fact remains that USA is a sick society, that lets its children be shot by legal firearms, and allows extreme poverty that increases violent crimes.
The problem here is your thinking prevent you from realizing how sick USA is as a society.
No I don’t it clearly states already in the first line of the article:
Children are in that line…which is not true. Firearms for children are not their number one cause. Adolescents 15-19 yes, because of suicide.
I just checked the causes of death for my own country, and firearms or other weapons don’t even register.
I’m betting your own country also has safety nets, a focus on healthcare, education and not locking up everyone for minor drug offenses…
The reasons are Cancer, traffic accidents, other accidents, suicide. Below 1 year, it’s near 100% birth defects or whats called cradle death, where the baby dies suddenly in its sleep for no known reason.
Which is what ours is for children.
Yes here too is the highest rate among the 1-19 year olds also between 15-19. But NONE are from firearms! And so few from other weapons that it isn’t even in the statistic.
Which is great, but the USA doesn’t have a firearm issue, we have a societal one. We don’t support our citizens and we lock up the parents or have them working 3 jobs. We create broken homes and ignore education.
The fact remains that USA is a sick society, that lets its children be shot by legal firearms,
You didn’t but just at the start here you said:
No I don’t it clearly states already in the first line of the article:
So which is it? You know it’s suicide from adolescents or children being shot?
and allows extreme poverty that increases violent crimes.
Couldn’t agree with you more.
The problem here is your thinking prevent you from realizing how sick USA is as a society.
Not even close. All I’m expressing is that guns are here to stay, and more people own them more than ever, instead of spending the political capital on trying to ban them, we should be spending it on fixing our society…aka the why people turn to violence and suicide here in the USA…and I can tell you this, it’s not because of guns.
Children are in that line…which is not true. Firearms for children are not their number one cause.
Which is completely irrelevant, since the claim is for age 1-19.
I’m betting your own country also has safety nets,
Duh of course it has?!?! Only sick countries like USA or very poor countries don’t.
Which is what ours is for children.
Again completely irrelevant if it also is for over 90 year olds. This is for 1-19.
So which is it?
It is as the article states, hildren and adolescents.
How the fuck is that so hard for you to grasp?Couldn’t agree with you more.
Well I guss that’s something at least.
Not even close. All I’m expressing is that guns are here to stay,
Yes because USA is a sick society. Unfortunately there are no real signs of that fundamentally changing.
Which is completely irrelevant, since the claim is for age 1-19.
Yes it is relevant, because it drives a false narrative. People don’t hear suicide, they hear “4 year olds are being gunned down”.
Duh of course it has?!?! Only sick countries like USA or very poor countries don’t.
Cool so you understand something at least on the topic.
Again completely irrelevant if it also is for over 90 year olds. This is for 1-19.
It’s not, as I explained above.
It is as the article states, hildren and adolescents. How the fuck is that so hard for you to grasp?
Again… because it’s not the same as a literal child being killed by a firearm and a teenager that commits suicide. They’re two massively different issues.
Yes because USA is a sick society. Unfortunately there are no real signs of that fundamentally changing.
Plenty of us are trying to change it, but all you are doing is feeding into the “guns are the issue and the only solution is to ban them” agenda that’s being continually pushed, so the ultra rich can divide the people while not actually focusing on the why.
Trump “I Did This!”
The Trump presidency just can’t stop fucking kids, can they?
