Thanks for spelling out how to get started for me. I’ll give this a try later!
Thanks everyone for the responses!
Thinker, Hoarder. I gather news and current events to outline and identify issues with a Canadian point of view.

Question: I do remember the days of those RSS buttons everywhere. But I never managed to see the value in it.
Can anyone share their experience with following feeds, and how they consume this content? Is there some kind of spam/tracker free functionality that people enjoy? Are there apps out there that organize this in a way that changes the game?
I’d like to give it another shot, sorry for all the questions.

People are still getting detained for what appears to be arbitrary reasons related to their skin colour, and these detentions have led to violent incidents carried out by agents of the state. Even if you survive the initial arrest, the detention centres also appear to be lawless. Detainees are subject to additional violence or sexual violence, and the conditions are inhumane.
Vegas offers to be a honey pot for a conflict zone. Any sane person would rather visit another civilization.

Interesting link, I’ll have to take some time to follow up on that.
@[email protected] You may want to also look over some of Antonio Gramsci’s writings for additional framing. I’m not saying this is the only frame to take, but these thoughts are typically introduced to Political Science students early on.

A valid point raised in the video as well. These 19 something year old players allege that the complainant was begging for sex, and everyone felt awkward. No one films to document this remarkable scene that sounds like a porn video.
But, they definitely had time to record a consent video.

What’s wrong with exploring the details of a high profile case involving Hockey players sexually assaulting a woman? I think the videos are well researched, and together form up 3 hours of well thought out detail.
I point out that this is a deep dive into the issue, and you roll up with a BBC article that probably takes 5 minutes to read.
Also, I watched the videos, and there’s discussion about how badly the case was handled from all fronts; and, there’s treatment on how netizens have some consensus that there was very little likelihood that the charges would result in convictions because of how the laws are.
I won’t go over all the highlights. A few points raised for me were:
Criminal law standards vs morality standards - I felt that the video also distinguished the issue of the court’s formal finding of guilt or innocence based on a standard of beyond a reasonable doubt. They even went over the moral issues that arose when exploring the culture of sexism in the Hockey players online “bible”, consent, and even the pinch points on evidence that were in favour of either the Hockey players and the complainant.
What’s society comfortable with issues of team sports and toxic behaviour? We’re being reminded about the ugly side of Hockey culture and whether we want these players to be flaunting their wealth and power around in this way. Or should they pay a price? Who should trust these roving packs of guys, travelling from town to town, grabbing at booze and women, then rushing home to their well compensated handlers at the first sign of trouble?
What credibility does Hockey Canada have? An organization that’s supposed to be hand holding these guys, and upholding some semblance of a honour/conduct system? There’s clips of the players making alleged statements to Hockey Canada for conduct over the allegations of sexual assault, and their statements are not even consistent with what ends up out during the criminal proceedings.
Canada is harming its relationship with the US?
Are we talking about the Americans electing a criminal felon as President, who appears to be facing allegations of decades long pedophilia, and seems to be part of a global scale honey pot and blackmail operation that targeted people around the world? Did that damage trust and credibility? And did we mention the Americans who seem involved in the debauchery, death, trauma, and abuse from trafficking vulnerable underaged girls around the world for this operation for decades are also not facing any justice? Instead, they all appear to be closing ranks and maintaining an iron curtain of silence?
Oh, and world leaders and dignitaries have to grapple with the knowledge that these same Americans remain in positions of power and gatekeeping positions throughout the US government system?
Plus this same US President is extracting wealth for his billionaire friends? Wealth that the Western powers created a rules based order together to generate?
By the time the Americans manage to uncollapse their justice system, and maybe codify some laws to avoid the total collapse of their society in their legislative branch, it will be decades.
Canada is not throwing a hissy fit, we’re literally working around a gasping goon where an ally should be, and we’re trying to keep the lights and the heat on for the rest of us until this blows over.
