I have a headless Debian server I’ve used for hosting media for like 10 years now with 0 issues that weren’t hardware failures. It’s solid as a rock. That said if you already have stuff up and running and you’re not having any problems there’s no reason to touch it.

1·2 months agoGonna be awful hard to organize resistance when the administration decides to cut everyone off from all the centralized means of doing so. The time to set up decentralized mesh networks is now.
I don’t for media. I have 2 parity drives and that’s it. I’d like to do some kind of off site mirror but I haven’t had time to figure it out and buying enough storage to do that is expensive.
My actual data for like taxes and stuff is backed up to my server and backblaze.
