  • Lets see, they HAD a massive solar plant already near Medicine Hat; that was closed down by the UCP. Then they spent a ton of taxpayer money reopening already closed coal plants instead, to prop up a dying industry. Then because the grid is neglected, they had to buy power from BC when it couldn’t keep up; but conservative brainwashing had them blaming Ottawa for that somehow too? AB is windy AF, could expand wind generation massively. AB has more annual solar potential than all of Germany, who successfully generates a much larger proportion of solar energy than AB. Solar price per kw has been falling massively despite best efforts of the oil lobby. Everyone has been screaming for a Canadian battery manufacturing industry, EV manufacturing, expand on Edison hybrid heavy truck manufacturing, locally made solar panels with a (more) ethical supply chain, rare earth mineral mining in a (more) ethical manner, high speed rail manufacturing industry that could be most easily and profitably implemented between Calgary and Edmonton and then exported to lots other Canadian cities? Lots of opportunities, but the oil lobby must be protected at all costs. And the sheep in AB are too busy drinking it up thinking Ottawa is keeping them down while its very clearly the UCP extracting as much wealth as possible for the elite lobbyists.

Oilfield jobs are being automated away at a record pace regardless. They don’t give a fuck about you. Corporate taxes have been slashed on massive (oil) companies with US ownership operating in AB, extracting more wealth from the Canadian people while shipping ever increasing profits to a hostile nation. While AB citizens’ property taxes are left climbing repeatedly to take up the slack! Pretty sure multiple of those same companies later pulled out of AB regardless. Where’s the increased local refining capabilities??? Why tf must we prioritize shipping crude and buying back finished gas et al at an exhorbitant markup?? Taxpayer money is relied on to cleanup (more realistically to continue to leave them poisoning everything) a ridiculous amount of abandoned oilwells because they refuse to require cleanup costs upfront before these companies sell off aging wells to another failing company, so they can conveniently declare bankruptcy and leave the bill to the taxpayers.

    SAD

Edit: fuck the real estate industry. Housing is not an investment its a human right. The real estate industry DOES need massive investment but not necessarily where its going in BC. What it needs is more ethical builders who are maybe OK making 500k this year as the owner instead of 1 mil, lead by example and use their reach to build small affordable housing for their fellow human beings, not market value mcmansions to extract as much value as possible.

Edit2: more ideas for real estate jobs that would actually help people: more affordable manufactured home builders, this would also help replace demand for the heavy trucking industry lost from declining oil jobs as these houses need to be hauled. There’s demand all over the prairies and plenty of wide load routes. ICF manufacturing. Start a heat pump manufacturing company in Canada they are shit simple and way overpriced.

  • They’ve had EVERY opportunity to diversify. Fuck their livelihoods

Edit: also wtf are you talking about blocking east and west, get off f*cebook and US owned media (sun media, nationalpost, etc) brainwashing dude.

Trudeau literally bought the Trans Mountain Pipeline and formed TMC for $4.7 BILLION of taxpayer money in 2018. Then used the supreme court of canada to FORCE the transmountain expansion thru BC and unceded Indigenous land against valid legal objections by both. How much more taxpayer subsidization and support from ottawa does the oil industry need to be profitable ffs?? Yet you fucks are so brainwashed you hear Kenny and now treasoner Smith say Trudeau blocked it and they’re killing the industry, and just go parroting that everywhere. The CROWN corp TMC spent $53 billion of CANADIAN taxpayer money on the expansion, taking it from 300,000 barrels/day to 890,000 barrels a day. More than doubling the risk to BC’s coastline. Now we’re seeing a repeat where Carney is forcing natural gas expansions thru against objections yet you rail on about the gov blocking the industry.

Once again maybe do more fucking refining locally if you want more jobs in the industry instead of exporting ever increasing amounts of crude internationally and buying back gas at a markup from the states. But what do I know.

  • Ah yes Lyme disease, better pretend it doesnt exist rather than admit the real cover up.

Released from Plum Island, NY by former Nazi Scientist turned American POS.

Weaponized ticks were the fascination of Nazi Bioweapons scientist Erich Braun who was whisked away to America after the war under Op Paperclip to build and run Plum Island. Modelled after his Nazi bioweapons island. Reminder: bioweapons are illegal under the Geneva convention but America had a Nazi continue making them for decades after WWII. (Despite direct orders from Reagan too). There’s a very clear breadcrumb trail linking the release of weaponized ticks from Plum to the emergence of Lyme disease 🧐.

A brief history of the island for the uninformed

  • Time for you to unplug from f***book and right wing (mostly US owned, or in this case British oligarch owned and written by a USian) media for a bit there buddy.

Go touch some grass and maybe read an article from a competing viewpoint once n awhile so you start to notice the blatant lies and brainwashing you are falling victim to. Its disgustingly obvious if you just bother reading both viewpoints and think even a little critically about the information you are being fed.

  • I spent over a year biking as my primary transport (commuting, groceries, hauling compost, etc) with -30C days in the winter just to see if I could go without my truck. Proper gear and a bit of forethought makes weather a non-issue. We’re Canadians, get used to the cold again, folks. Get yourwelf some proper Helly Hansen or similar rain gear (WR is rated in mm on good gear), some neoprene over the handlebar gauntlets for cold/gale rain days (got mine for $15 from aliexpress) and get after it.

Big dumps of snow are annoying, but easily handled if the city/town actually invests in proper bike path infrastructure and snow clearing equipment instead of relegating us to the gutters.

Those little sidewalk snowplows/throwers handle bike paths easily and they are plowed here before I wake up to go to work (plow drivers work at night here so the roads and sidewalks are done for the AM).

Most of the complaints against biking in Canada are easily handled with a little planning and forethought. But the complaints are continually pushed by the auto lobby so 🤷‍♂️ doesn’t really matter if they have a weak basis, most people will just regurgitate it without ever trying for themselves
