Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you have an app that you use for a unique or uncommon purpose?
6·2 days agoNot what you were asking, but delta chat is an app that turns email into chat. Same premise.
I use the f droid store as a launcher almost more than I use my launcher’s native feature when I have to use an app thats not on the home screen. I can’t remember the weird names people give their projects so I just search for what I need and open whatever is already installed.
I use bitwarden password manager to keep notes about websites because it loads in the sidebar according to URL automatically. (More useful on desktop than mobile.)

Yesterday I went to read a review on a show and when you click to read past the preview you hit a wall asking for an account (and in my recollection a payment). Must be a recent change.
I hit the same wall as OP yesterday but found myself on tvtropes instead which now has about 20 tabs open.

0·9 months agoEmail list tracking is much worse.
It gets me riled up because every email list does it. Even when I know that the people who run it have no interest in it. Non-profit, non-creepy organizations have it turned on by default. They may not even be aware of it.
It turns me off the whole concept of email lists because I have to be on guard to not click any of their links by mistake.

Psychology has been going through the replication crisis for some years now.

TLDR: half of what you ever heard about psychology is false, they are working on figuring out which half it is. But there is not as much promotion on this as the initial false claims.
