Mental illness and homelessness go together like sex and cigarettes. You can have 1000 days of harmless hobos sleeping on benches, and all it takes is 1 or 2 stark-raving madmen attacking or harassing people to shift attention and spark concern about safety (falling property values because that neighborhood has a “bum problem”)
I’m not saying it’s right, it just how things work.
Edit: I’ve paid high rent to live somewhere and had to deal with panhandlers, hobos, and thieves. Kindness wasn’t a valuable tool. Needless to say it hits different when you are the one being affected.

You silly goose! US Congressmen get the best healthcare. What’s wrong, are you not a Congressman? Sucks for you!

words right out of my mouth.

So if I were a foreign asset and in charge of the executive branch, I would ensure that every cabinet position and agency was headed by an incompetent, obnoxious, embarrassing criminal, so it simultaneously: discredits the institution, accelerates dissolution of public faith in government, actively damages the agency and its mission, and weakens the United States by a death of 1000 cuts.
But that’s just if I were a foreign (why not Russian) asset actively working against the best interests of the United States.

if you wire up some blinky LEDs to the power supply, then yes. I NEEDS THEM BLINKYS

Next step is to free the acer from it’s physical bonds and screw the motherboard to the 3D printed stand.

bro doesn’t get it. A substantial subset of selfhosting is using old tired stuff to make new sweet stuff. The only new parts on my machines are nvme ssds for the OSes and plugs and wire adapters. Everything else is yanked from an ancient unit or bought from ebay for pennies on the dollar of new. My services are free and my machines were close.
RomM looks really cool. I’ve had difficulty with getting the Retroarch container to play roms with acceptable latency and without crashing. Is RomM easy to set up and does it handle the heavy lifting in such a way as to not tax resources? I’m on an i5 thinkstation with onboard graphics. My system does not like Wayland at all.

I hear you on that. Just sharing my experience with this new toy I really like. Someday we’ll be able to flash these android machines to a google-free OS, and that will be wonderful. Oh and it plays games in an emulator everything up to PSP.
Edit: I think Kodi will run on practically anything, and there’s a Jellyfin addon (i think), but I don’t think you get the nice jellyfin UI with it.

If you’re talking about running a jellyfin client, not a server, get an android tv box. I have two tiers of ONN android boxes, 4k and 4k pro. I installed projectivy and smartube, as well as a client for navidrome and jellyfin. NO ADS EVER. I’m head over heels. The jellyfin client on the 4k was weird for a while, but I disabled a bunch of metadata plugins on the server and it straightened up.
I suspect as long as you’re just playing things off the server and there is no transcoding or whatnot going on, you should be fine.

I mean, Boomer greed and selfishness has given us the burning heap we have now. Good news is it’s too late. They benefitted from the establishment of the middle class and then shot it in the face.

The more you look into things, the more you find out that entire sectors of the economy are held by a handful of multinational conglomerates. Say there are 5 widgets on the shelf, all at different prices making different claims. then you find out that 3 of the 5 are all made in the same factory and put in different boxes, with the only difference being the brand name. The other 2 are both made in a different factory. Of the 3 from the same factory, one company has bought out the original two competitors and they now just use the old competitors’ branding. A different company owns the other two brands and then you find out that both of those companies are actually owned by a faceless multinational conglomerate. It is the illusion of choice. There is no actual competition. Koch, Proctor and Gamble, Nestle, Stellantis - all things you should investigate. All companies selling you garbage, shitting up the Earth, and convincing you that you still have some agency and aren’t just a critter to be milked for your labor.

lose 85% of my cpu and ram resources

Simpler times.

Sorry for the lol

“It was in the user agreement.”
that’s some bullshit. I bought a thing the other day that had a $7.00 fee for protection. I didn’t check it and thought, cool, they’ll just decline to ship it and keep my money if I don’t pay it. I didn’t pay it, I did get my shit, but the thought was thunk and now I’m thinking it again. You should think it too.
