I’d never heard of IVPN before. Their ethics page is so refreshing. I’ve been trying out the free version of Proton for the last week but I like the sound of this way, way more, plus the anti-tracker stuff is really valuable. Thanks! :D

thank you very much! I think I’ll have my family switch over to Waterfox and give Phoenix a try. Maybe pairing with a VPN can bring it up to Mullvad-level security… not keen on using a browser built by neo-nazis obviously.
I’m seeing folks talk about Waterfox too and now I’m overwhelmed by choice paralysis. Which of these is best for your average AI-hater who just likes browsing the web? Which is best for tightest security possible? I have both use-cases on my mind
I think you’re doing a great job here. I would personally like to see more emphasis on actions taken against AI, maybe discussion groups about talking points to use when talking with family, or bills in various places that people can email their representatives about (if they’re in a place where that’s useful). We could also collaborate with the self-hosting community on slrpnk.net to get people set up with tar pits and poison for their servers, and I’d love to see some artists sharing their work or helping people get started with making real art so that they don’t feel the need to use AI at all.
Just some thoughts I’ve had recently! Not saying that you need to do these things.
Anyone know where to purchase Japanese knotwood rhizomes? Asking for a friend.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Tesla in autopilot "AI" crashed into Texas home, killing one
2·15 days agoThat’s what I always imagined when the idea of self-driving cars first came up - y’know, something to prevent 50 car pile-ups, that sort of thing. Not this BS :/ Now I just want a better bus system and less cars so there can be more bikes.
That sounds incredible (even if I had to google a lot of the terms haha). Would you do me a big favor and make a post about this in https://slrpnk.net/c/selfhosting if you haven’t already? We would love to have you over on slrpnk.net, where we enjoy the blend of tech + the environment and hate AI. I would post myself but I’m just now investigating personal websites and switching to Linux so I don’t think I’d be able to do your project justice.
Sounds cool as hell! Talk to me about Iocaine - is this for people who self-host or can I put this on my websites somehow?
Tell me more about the poisoned text? I keep a site for a freelance job and I would love to fill it with poison.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Religious exemption from using the "AI" at work
3·17 days agoHonestly I think we need to use this more. If religion means an org doesn’t have to pay taxes, then my mutual aid organization is a church now. Homeless shelter is a church now. I have a right to peaceful protest? How about my right to hold a sit-down prayer service in the street?
So yeah, I’m all about AI exemption for religion. Looks like I’m about to become extremely devout! C:

71·17 days agoYeah absolutely. It’s not self driving and they shouldn’t make people think it’s self driving. Fuck Tesla

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Tesla in autopilot "AI" crashed into Texas home, killing one
31·17 days agoI hear that. I think Tesla’s “self driving car” bullshit needs to stop until we have actual self-driving vehicles… but then, I don’t want self driving cars, I want public transport that functions so that we don’t need or want self driving cars

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Tesla in autopilot "AI" crashed into Texas home, killing one
344·17 days agoOkay let’s be clear that I fuckin hate AI but this still seems like user error rather than the car’s autopilot killing someone? Like… you can still slam the brakes even if you’re in autopilot mode. It’s basically souped up cruise control.
Again, I hate AI passionately, but let’s try to use our higher reasoning too, or else we’re no better than the assholes who ask ChatGPT for relationship advice and basic math

I’ve been looking into alternative search engines… Kagi seemed like a good option at first but it has its own AI “assistant” and its hella expensive anyway. Ecosia sucks. Currently testing out Brave which at least doesn’t dump AI summaries on me.
