But yeah I feel that public buildings should use American materials. Really they should prioritize materials within their jurisdiction, and where it’s not possible as close to the level of jurisdiction as possible, including continent level. That means if we don’t have it then we should check if canada or Mexico do. And tbh one of the best things I think we can do to promote better voting systems is to utilize them in smaller voting we do. If your volunteer organization or social club switches to star voting, it makes it feel more natural to the people there and teaches people that it can work well and has advantages.

Oh dang, good on you chaplaining for pagan prisoners. And yeah the connection to earth through paganism has had a huge positive effect on me. I’ve also found that celebrating the solstices, equinoxes, and midway points has done wonders for me feeling in tune with life itself.

I had the door for Christianity, but I have no desire to leave my paganism even if I wish it was easier to find community that I felt like I fit in properly with with it.

Passing for cis isn’t binary or consistent, every trans guy has to guess what the likelihood is that any time he uses the men’s room someone will think he looks trans and call the cops. There is no safe answer for him (trans women have a similar situation). For both trans men and trans women the less likely to get the cops called answer will tend towards men’s rooms, but that’s only because men are less likely to call the cops on a woman in the men’s room.

Glad to help! And yeah it’s less intuitive than rcv as a solution and it’s relatively new (like a decade old), but it’s designed to resolve a lot of the issues that have arisen with both rcv and single choice voting.

The only real drawback imo is that it’ll confuse people until they get used to it, but we can account for that with instructional information and people to explain at polling places early on. And even if they are confused, they’re unlikely to cast an invalid ballot like people who are confused by rcv do.

Imo it’s: star - 5, rcv - 4, jungle primaries - 2, single choice - 1

I also think just spreading the word about it is a great way to help convince people it might be worth a go. Hopefully Oregon will adopt it soon
