Depraved idiots offer it and gullible idiots accept it.

A usual ramen spot I’ve been going to for the past few years for some reason replaced the old images of the food on their menu with AI-gen ones and it looked so weird. I saw it last time I went for my usual, but I kept looking at the art and like a Lovecraftian horror the longer I looked at it the worse the details appeared. It literally affected my appetite because psychologically I couldn’t help but think I was ordering some freak-ass food as depicted in the new ai-gen pictures, and the ramen just didn’t taste as good to me that day. And I don’t think I’ll go back anymore :(

No, don’t you remember? He’s a Very Stable Genius™️

Pleading face, as in I sure hope your vision of the future passes

🥺

it’s really sad that so man people lingered on this dogshit website after that fuckhead elon musk bought it

Called it. https://lemmy.ml/post/50384280/26832027

Sloppers love it when you do the hard work of maintaining a clean dataset for them to steal.

this framing is so stupid to me

An East Tennessee county commissioner sparked controversy after suggesting during a public workshop that Flock CEO Garret Langley should be hanged for treason.

Excuse me? The real controversy is the nation-wide surveillance network used to track everyone’s movements. The commissioner’s response seems to be very measured in light of that fact.

Free him!!

Not just tech bros. The execs at the company I work for were talking as early as 2025 about trying to get “LLM-optimized” search results, meaning we need to be in the training data and be at the top of the AI overview. It’s just SEO bullshit all over again. You don’t need big scary Russia to poison AI, our capitalist class will do it eagerly.

oh no not my precious LLMs please anything but my precious LLMs

no suspects

:)

speaking from experience, this is a very soul-crushing way of gaining “experience” to find a job, because the hiring manager will probably have no clue what it is or assume it’s BS, and will still just care more about job experience.

cool pic

My “thing” is a Hercules movie from Mystery Science Theater 3000. Those movies are so low intensity, and I’ve fallen asleep to them hundreds of times over the past few years. I put a sleep timer on my ancient iPad on low brightness and low volume for 15m, and I’m usually asleep before time’s up.

Hell yeah. Though I do always wonder if such entities mark themselves as targets for AI scraping. For instance, Wikipedia is also committed to banning slop articles. But that just means for any AI scraper it just becomes a reliable source of quality training data. So Wikipedia volunteers have to expend a lot of time and resources determining if something is slop and getting rid of it, all so that the slop trainers can come in and create the next version of the slop engine used to spam Wikipedia…

Anyway… whatever. Good for Codeberg!

100% this.

If every software maker generalized the principle of unused ram is wasted ram, I would be allowed to keep only one program open on my computer. Because each application must consume all of it for… I don’t know. Showing me a webview of a text box that has a glowing ring for no reason or something stupid like that.

This isn’t even getting into how cache locality in memory is a performance consideration, or how every software maker is EXTERNALIZING their costs onto users, making us buy more capable hardware to keep up with their software.

All so I can do the same shit I did 10 years ago: send messages, view pictures and videos.

Vibe bros LOVE their useless animations and effects. There is this one website I found for doing Regexes called openregex or something. And just having that page open with nothing else going on slams your GPU. It looks ugly as sin, too. And if you go to wayback machine and see when that page first was created it actually looked relatively normal and fine.

The time you spend waiting at the checkout line is the time the business running the grocery store realized they could steal from you.

In Virginia during the fifa World Cup there are a lot of pro data center ads funded by a group that was created for this purpose called Virginia Connects.

It’s the usual shitbags lying to the public to make it sound like data centers are good
