What if some of them simply stabbed him in previous stab wounds?
Plausible deniability.
Were YOU one of the 23 stabbers?
Who, me?
To be fair, you can be surrounded by what, like 8 people at one time? So even if they got 1 good stab in each, guy #24 is on the third rotation if they’re being polite about it.
Now imagine being the 60th guy and Caesar’s been dead for 8 minutes already and you’re expected to shuffle through the crowd to find a yet unstabbed region to sink your knife to complete the agreement.
I guess by guy 60, you get to be creative about your stabbing?
“Torso: done; arms, legs, neck: also done. Hmm, maybe groin? Nah, too obvious. Feet? Too kinky. Right in the right buttock. That’s the one worth being remembered for”
Gadaffi remembers…
This would’ve been a great Mythbusters plot.
“Holy shit Rufus, did you just stab a dead man in the ass?!?”
“It was the only good spot left!”
or maybe they just thought that it was no longer necessary to keep stabbing an already dead emperor?
Not an emperor actually.
yes, indeed, not am emperor. thanks for the correction.
He consolidated power and proclaimed himself dictator for life in 44 BC, which contributed to the political conditions that led to the collapse of the Roman Republic and the emergence of the Roman Empire.
Quitters!
You not, Brutus?
everyone wants to stab his butthole. once it’s stabbed, what’s good left to stab?

A couple probably stabbed each other, there’s always the dipshit who gets it totally wrong.
You got the guys who are trying to play both sides. So they go along with the plot, but they don’t actually get a stab in, so if it goes wrong later, they can say, “I realized it was wrong and didn’t go through with it,” and if everything works out, you can say you were right there at the beginning.
Everybody remembers only that one guy.
Yeah! Steve!
