I’m not sure how feasible this is, but it seems logical at first glance :)

As you know, there’s a technology called Anubis that helps block/slow down AI bots. This technology forces users to calculate SHA hashes before letting them access to the site. With this method, while normal users wait only a few seconds, AI bots sending millions of requests suffer in terms of time and computing power.

So I’m thinking, instead of making them calculate random, useless hashes, why not make them mine CPU-friendly cryptocurrencies like XMR or VRSC? :) This way, the site owner can both make money from AI bots and have a card against them.

    It’s been tried. People don’t like it. Adblockers block those scripts.

    I think the XMRig engine is too big to download in a browser in a reasonable size, and WASM isn’t fast enough. also people would be even less happy if they were locked out of a website until they mine crypto for the site owner :p

      Valid concern. Still, I don’t enjoy waiting for the anime girl to scan my browser too :)
