It’s wild that Africa doesn’t go for massive solar infrastructure.
Not all of Africa is a giant desert, or even that close to the equator.
That’s not what I say at all. But if it’s feasible in Europe, closer to the equator it must be a no brainer.

Let’s blow money on something that will produce results after 20 years for much more money than renewables + storage (if it doesn’t get canceled along the way after delays and cost overruns)
Nuclear powerplants take that long because of extreme regulations, many of which are just total nonsense. They can be built at reasonable speeds, especially newer tech.
The spent material storage is also a non issue.
It’s honestly the biggest fumble in terms of energy production in the last decades. We fucked it.And this assumes China doesn’t figure out liquid salt reactors which seems likely at this point.
Nuclear does have other little bonuses.

They actually produce a lot of power via hydro.
Nothing that justifies a higher power bill than with renewables, and a new reliance on foreign fuel
They’re referring to plutonium production, which many states, especially now, may consider a worthwhile justification for the extra expenditures.
