Yeah but can it help me find good RSS feeds?
I like the idea of having YouTube in my FreshRSS instance, but I can’t get the setting correct. I selected that I only want the layout in my YouTube category, but it’s still everywhere. Also, when I open a YouTube item, it looks the same as any other article. I do have a bunch of other layout related extensions enabled, so it might be because of that.
I like it, but I’ll need to play with it a bit more and try to get it to work.
That’s odd, and you made sure that video mode for "All pages and categories " is unchecked?
If you’re not on the latest version of FreshRSS, perhaps try updating? During development and testing, I’ve always stayed with the latest version.
I am on the latest version, and my settings appear to be correct. I also tried disabling all other plugins, but to no avail. Maybe I’ll dive into it this weekend, if I feel like it.
Thanks for responding anyhow.
Thanks for letting me know, I’d love to get this working for as many people as possible, so please let me know if you got any leads.
I recently stood up a Miniflux instance. Any reason in particular to look at FreshRSS?
I’ve been using FreshRSS for years, because of it’s flexibility and customization options. I switched to Nextcloud News for a while, since I’m already running Nextcloud anyhow and it’s convenient, but it was far too buggy and missed some quality of life features FreshRSS has.
Also, I use Capy Reader on Android and that app is just perfect, with the same flexibility, plus it lets you read articles in the app, without opening the web page.
It depends on your needs, as with most things. I chose FreshRSS as it allowed me to customize it, to turn it into a YouTube subscription feed. Before I created Youlag, I was using FreshRSS’ official YouTube plugin for this purpose.
I did stumble upon Miniflux while deciding on a RSS reader, but never considered it as it didn’t include thumbnails in the feed view.

I’m only finding references to tiny tiny rss for this. Is there a connection I am not seeing?
Oh shit… yeah thanks folks! I totally mistaken fresh for ttrss…
Deleted my comment for my own stupid sake ><
No I think the OP is confused. tt-rss forums was a largely horrible community which prided itself on being edgy and toxic. FreshRSS never had anything to do with them, except for also being an rss reader. It is (or at least was? Not sure nowadays) instead loosely connected to the framasoft people, who are cool and doing nice things for the open source community, and not at all toxic.
Thanks for confirmation! I hate that I have to keep lists of toxic projects to avoid, but if I’m going to host things on principle sometimes, it’s better to be informed about the principles of the project too.
