In one sense, the rank-and-file NDP are like the true blue conservatives. They believe what they believe with passionate intensity and if it comes right down to it, would rather be right than form a government.
We’ll see, but I’d argue that the focus shouldn’t be on winning seats. At least not in the short term. If he’s really serious then he should start building a movement by educating people, and building a common vision people can buy into for the long haul. If NDP can embrace socialism, and convince people that they’re aiming to effect systemic change that would shift the dynamic from trying to win this or that particular election with people rallying around a long term vision.

Interesting viewpoint. I don’t agree, but we’ll see how that goes. I think Canadians would be open to more socialism, but in very focused areas.
