Why would stats on jail time include unconvicted and unaccused? That doesnt make any sense. Also, accused doesn’t mean guilty.

Stats on rape and sexual assault should include instances where the perpetrator doesn’t see any jail time because the rape and sexual assault still happens.

Just because a victim doesn’t report does not mean that the perpetrator is innocent.

Wait, hold on here. Are you asking why they don’t report numbers on unreported crimes? And more so you want numbers on average jail time to include not convicted and even not accused individuals as rapists?

You would love the movie Minority Report.

That’s a lot of words I didn’t say that you just put in my mouth.

My point is that the number of rapists is much higher than the reported stats will have you believe. Rape and sexual assaults don’t get reported nearly as often as other types of crime.

But these stats are about jail time for convicted rapists, not on how many rapists there are. We’re trying to look at sentencing data for rapists. Nobody is disputing that there are rapists out there who got away with it. Everybody knows the number of rapists is greater than the number of accused and/or convicted.

I was just expanding on the topic and engaging in conversation.

Sorry I didn’t put the disclaimer that men accused of rape are much bigger victims than actual rape victims. /s

I do believe there are a lot more crimes committed then reported, don’t assume I have a position for your narrative. With that being said, please tell me how a reasonable person would not take below as I did?

Stats on rape and sexual assault should include instances where the perpetrator doesn’t see any jail time because the rape and sexual assault still happens.

Just because a victim doesn’t report does not mean that the perpetrator is innocent.

You want statistics to include unreported crimes as in your first sentence. Your last sentence calls for an implied guilt of everyone implicated in a sexual assault, no beyond that, as you said “… A victim doesn’t report does not mean that the perpetrator…”

This is how you get a police state, where anyone at any time can be destroyed when a person with more power wants it. Do you honestly think this will help victims? Even more so sexual assault victims? The idea that you want stats (that have in this day an age a shaky relationship with the truth) to start including make believe data points in order to push an objective is so bassackwards that I can only see it coming from an american.

Most of us know crimes (more so of a sexual intent) are under reported, the idea that numbers should be fudged (once again that you clearly imply) to make the report fit better with any narrative (good intentions and all that) is so mind numbingly insane that they made a movie about how bad an idea it is.

Statistics on rape and sexual assault should include that information, yes.

There are victims more willing to be honest about what has happened to them in polls and surveys than reporting to the police.

Just because a victim of rape did not report it to the police does not mean the rape didn’t happen. I’m not suggesting numbers be fudged or made up.

I’ve said nothing on punishing people who have not been convicted in a court of law.

            You very literally said

Just because a victim doesn’t report does not mean that the perpetrator is innocent.

How exactly do you expect unreported crimes to be included in the stats?

Stats on rape and sexual assault should include it, not stats on jail time for offenders.

None of you have looked into stats on rape and sexual assault before. It’s almost always included in some way because reporting of rape is very low.

Again, how exactly do you want unreported crimes to be included? We just modify the numbers in ways that make our position look better, or…?

They already get included in some stats about rape and sexual assault.

Do you think reporting to the police is the only way people find out about rape?
