Maybe I don’t understand all the variables and factors at play, but it seems counterproductive to deal with Meta for any reason, about anything, and that Canadians are better off finding their news on platforms not controlled by US algorithms.
Rare - and refreshing - to see a politician stand their ground in the face of US lies and bluster. Not a tactful, softened vague response. Just: “No”. Dare I get my hopes up for more plain talking truth in the face of lies?

I don’t know anyone who ramped “down”. We’re still buying local cranberry juice instead of orange, and are quite satisfied with all of our Canadian alternatives and substitutes, and happy to go on for a very long time simply doing without when there isn’t. This is not a fad, or even a protest, at this point. It is simple patriotism. Supporting Canada’s economy to ensure our sovereignty.

Been reading PM Carney’s book: “Values”, and this CPP strategy is definitely the kind of investment approach that misaligns what we actually value as a society with what the market values. A disconnect he identifies as a significant driver of current global problems. What’s the point of having a retirement fund, if the currency tanks, or the world goes to hell?
