  • What really astounds me is that somehow the receiving bank actually knows instantly when a refund is on it’s way.

I have a Revolut bank account and recently I went to a shop to return an item. Less than ten seconds after the cashier issued the refund I got a notification from Revolut: a refund is on it’s way.

Of course the money was not there instantly but the amount was already listed in the transactions (greyed out until the money is actually there)

I never had this with any other banking app and always had to check regularly if the money has arrived.

I love Revolut for this and many other features that other banks simply won’t put into their apps.

I hate this kind of reasoning.

“Let’s ignore this big problem because there are other bigger problems”

The same people say shit like: “Why are you sad? There are so many people who have it even worse than you!”

All this makes us do nothing until the “smaller” problems become so big that the damage is done and then those people will say “Well, we are in too deep. It it what it is. Can’t change it now 🤡”

  • Or at least give students computers that have restricted or no access to the internet? Even before LLMs having access to the internet would have been a huge opportunity to cheat. At least in most subjects.

Also, what happened to teachers/supervisors walking around and checking if the students cheat? Back when I went to school we also cheated with cheat sheets or exchanging answers but it was always risky because getting busted meant failing the test (or worse).

Letting students use the internet unrestrictedly would be like the teacher leaving the room and leaving us unsupervised for the duration of the test back in my days.
