  • Trust me, it takes A LOT of time. I’ve been playing for around a decade, I’m ELO 1400ish, and I still consider myself a nooblet.

The problem with chess is that it’s an ancient game where anything you might try has already been done by someone. Randomly move a horsey, and a skilled opponent will recognize it as either a blunder, or part of a well known strategy. “Ha, I can see you’re trying to play a Venetian Sodomy Gambit, but I already anticipated this, so by moving this pawn you fell for my Cleveland Steamer Trap. Eat shit, noob. Mate in 61 moves!”

Chess is truly an unforgiving game to 99.999% of us.

You will never master it. I sure as hell never will. But as long as we’re having fun, that’s all that matters.

Now, with that out of the way, I find that most people stagnate at around 700 ELO, because that’s about when the common opener traps stop working. A little beyond that level, and countering them is not only easy, but punishing them is expected. And to move past this level, a basic theory knowledge of the game is important: Learn an opener, and then master that. Not the entire game, just the opener sequence of your choice.

Once you’re able to arrive at midgame without already being behind, you can start developing your more generalized skillset.

My suggestions is that you learn King’s Indian Attack (as white) and Purc Defense (as black). They’re very similar, and they put you in an easily defensible position, and it works against pretty much any opener your opponent might try.

Oh, EDIT, because I forgot the most important part:
    NEEEEEEERRRRRDDD!

  • Yeah, I think wishy washy “too careful” language is annoying to everyone involved in the conversation. Overly vague language instead of just using the correct syntax serves nobody.

I don’t remember the context or the exact question, but I do remember saying at some point, on the topic of gender and sexuality, something along the lines of “I was born with a penis, I like it that way, and I enjoy inserting it into opposite genitalia”. I found that to be the easiest way of clarification. To my defense, this was before I learned what “cisgendered” meant and I just wanted to make sure there was no ambiguity. This was in 2010 or thereabouts.

  • I have some many questions… feel free to answer as many as you want, if any at all:

    • Where does the breast tissue come from?
    • How does one sculpt a nipple?
    • Are they as sensitive as before? I mean, on the receiving end of stimuli, does it feel like an organically grown whole grain breast, or is it more like… uh… elbow skin? I have no idea how the neuroplastics would work…
    • Does having breast cancer on one side automatically increase the chances of cancer on the other side? I would think symmetry isn’t a given?
    • Were you allowed to choose size and shape? (If so, did you go for the tried and true original, or somethingelse entirely?)
    • Hope you’re doing well today. Not a question, I just wanted to say (write) it. Live long and prosper.

Sorry for the stupid questions, but of all places I feel this is a safe space for them…

  • Broad strokes: Coincidentally having read up on both, it’s kind of like pirates vs navy in the 1700s: They’re both capable forces, but one side is superior in material while the other is superior in training.

Doctrines on the cartel side will be pseudo-militaristic in that some may have had military training at some point. But the cartel haven’t had the chance to drill the fundamentals on a daily basis.

And going back to the pirate analogy: A pirate ship is specifically tailored towards piracy, and will easily outgun any naval vessel of the same size. But while pirates can fire a huge fucking salmon salvo (ducking autocorrect), the navy is able to unleash a (slightly) smaller salvo at a higher rate of fire.

What I’m gett8ng at is that an army, due to the nature of how armies operate, may have trouble equipping Private First Class Gonzales with the latest and greatest hardware. But Gonzales’ vocational is to use his pewpew shooter all day every day to the best of his ability, and will therefore be better trained.

Cobain money can buy you bling, but it won’t buy you man-hours dedicated to army drills and squad tactics.
