Yep, but uh, it’s not just conservatives. There are lots from all sorts that want someone else to make the decisions, for both good and ill

Racism? In my celebrated English children’s story? It’s more likely than you think.
Yep, just the Depp one. But it’s “eatable”

Technology@lemmy.world•AI is now a health care issue: AI drove nearly $1 billion in extra health care costs over just 2 years – with no evidence patients got any different – or any better – careEnglish
8·5 days agoI mean yeah, but this is a decision that the hospitals made to try and get more reimbursement for the same care. The fact that an insurer is tattling on them is telling, though. “How dare you try to take more money from us when we’re trying to take more money from you!” Is the energy, what with AI being used to supercharge denials from the insurer’s side.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Theme park enjoyers: How do you feel about the Six Flags X2 rollercoaster permanently closing down amidst claims it's deadly, even though 4 G's isn't remotely enough to cause bleeding on the brain?
5·7 days agoSure. Issue is that positive Gs can’t cause these injuries, though. So discussing the positive Gs is like talking about how altitude sickness can’t be the cause of surfing accidents. The two are never correlated regardless.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Theme park enjoyers: How do you feel about the Six Flags X2 rollercoaster permanently closing down amidst claims it's deadly, even though 4 G's isn't remotely enough to cause bleeding on the brain?
13·7 days agoBoth articles lay the likely culprit on the 4D chairs, not on any turn. The chairs spin riders end-over-end while the coaster runs the track. If the chair had a rider’s head facing out during a reverse loop (this ride has one) then the negative Gs could cause the injuries being discussed. It doesn’t take many negative Gs to be dangerous or fatal.
I think the bigger smoking gun is the number of identical injuries, rather than anything from the numbers. This coaster was passing safety inspections, so the injury causing parameters are probably pretty uncommon.
No mention of 4G in either article, so no idea why you brought that up.

Car infrastructure has lower up-front costs, but much higher lifetime costs than rail. That’s the real profit making scheme here. That, plus you have to buy a car to opt-in, which is a major expense and one that has to be made every 5-15 years.
