@FistingEnthusiast in most of america you cannot say that or you get blacklisted. I always just say well, not right now! Which really means hopefully never because their lives will be only suffering.

@Ryanmiller70 same. And I’m pretty sure my parents didnt want them either. Maybe its genetic lol. Never once have wanted one. They dont bother me and I don’t mind taking care of them for short periods though.
@scrubbles more factory slaves for the rich of course. You must have a child who will work 9 hours to make funko pops.
@MolochHorridus literally every parent of all times thoughts. I’m sure Hitler’s parents thought this.
@velma little shits grow up to be big shits.
@Zarobi I’d say I partially agree. I think we are selfish either way. I just dont totally agree with bringing another human into a world that doesn’t need more people, and has an almost certainly dark future, that’s all.
@Zarobi ran out of chars…
You think any kid born today is going to have : medical care, be able to own land/house, get any sort of job, not be mass surveilled, not be involved in climate disasters and water/food shortages? Thats the reason I don’t think its worth it. If we lived in a perfect utopia then maybe, for people who want it.
If I had to choose, I would 100% choose to be born even earlier at the very least, but I’m super lucky I still grew up in a golden age of sorts.
@Zarobi sure, thats a fine comparison in some ways. But for many of us, we HAVE TO drive because we are forced to (because of American society , for one), and many would prefer not to be forced to drive.
Ive always been a realist. I’m actually quite happy with my life, privileged as I am now because of luck and people I know. However I only feel sadness when I see more and more children being born who are very likely going to have awful lives compared to me.
@Zarobi the whole “my kid will be the smartestest and cure cancer” argument is why we are in the state we are in. That phrase is also often used by religious nutjobs.
The difference between “I shouldn’t make friends cuz they’ll just die” is easy: we are already here , against our will, so let’s make the best of it.
I counter with: your child could be Hitler 3.0, See how that point is just plain dumb? Every human thinks their special child will be the smartest and best next president.
@thepig maybe some people cannot control their biological desires. Obviously its normal to want a kid because biology demands it. I however feel 0 desire for it.
@Zarobi sure, because they are already here. If you could prevent that, wouldnt you? Seems cruel to allow that. Similarly if i had a debilitating hereditary condition why the hell would I pass it on?
@thepig agree. I’d say in general, my life has maybe been 15-20% enjoyment, the rest was either meh or outright sucked. The enjoyment portion gets smaller as one gets older, especially if you aren’t raking in cash by the time youre 40, you won’t have a fun time.
@BlueOysterCultist I mean, mine wasnt great (childhood abuse) but I make the most of it myself. Theres definitely fun to be had. I just see zero reason to drag an unconsenting person into the world. Like, why? If people were actually not selfish, they’d adopt. I am selfish and I enjoy my alone time, so I will probably end up doing neither.
@thepig everyone wants people to have kids, no one wants to pay or take the time for them. If you dont have immediate family nearby, have fun with $2k/month daycare bills on $9/hr minimum wage! Its a joke.
@Zarobi not kids with cancer.
@thepig in my experience these folks think everyone is either rich or has zero disabilities of any kind when thats actually about .00000001% of humans. Or theyre really young and have no idea how much life sucks (but make the best of it anyway if youre here)
@thepig oh man, sooooo many people fit this mold. “Because I have to. Because its what you do”. No. Its not. You dont have to do ANYTHING.
@NoSpotOfGround yeah simply put youre totally right. Sure, there’s good in this world (if youre rich) but lets face it, life is mostly bad and we would all rather be having an eternal slumber instead. We are just here making the most of it because we have to. Say this in public IRL and youll be utterly crucified though. To me its just logic. If you have a kid either by accident or choice, I dont care. But dont make me feel like its required.
@schipelblorp I’m unsure

@Zarobi gross. Thats why i dont trust any device with DSP to sound good until I go through every menu to shut that trash off. The worst part about this is it trains young people to LIKE awful sound. The future for sound is bleak Its really not a good thing. I’ll stick with my analog class a amps, thanks!
