Gotcha. Nothing historical about that specific symbol. Never meant as a symbol of fortunate or goodness. Just some Heck dude who thought an angular S was cool

One day I wish we as a collective humanity can reclaim these symbols. Growing up in a Chinese household. I’ve know the manji as symbol associated with the Buddha, not as a symbol of hate and oppression.
Much appreciated! Accuracy is important
I remember watching a video somewhere that touched upon this. IIRC, whenever a Chinese immigrant came to a city in the United States with a large Chinese population, such as San Francisco, they would seek out people from their hometown and would often be directed to benevolent societies. These societies help provide means for the immigrant to start looking after themselves, by offering different professions folks can jump into. Often times that would include providing recipes for dishes they could fix up at restaurants.
I think the video was a documentary about General Tso’s chicken.

Everything everywhere all at once is easily one of my favorite movies of all time. Pays a bunch of homages to action films and tropes. One of the few times in my life where I ugly cried and laughed at the same time.
There used to be a guy on the corner who would hold a sign up about Falun Gong and repeat “Happy, happy, happy.”
Watching this clip back on college is what solidified my love for philosophy.
