Technology@lemmy.world•Solar Panels Are Now Producing So Much Power That They’re Leaving Nuclear Plants in the Dust: "Solar is now the engine of the power transition."English
1·24 hours agoI’m curious, I wonder why something like a large magnifying glass, hasn’t been used to heat up something like a special metal/material or even oil or something, which can somehow be turned into storable energy for the grid 🤷♂️
Other than solar panels? Consumers have to pay for their implementation, with power sold to the grid at such a low rate these days, that for single occupier dwellings, they’re not worth it financially.

Wasn’t that diss track directed at Machine-gun Kelly?

Technology@lemmy.world•Plex vulnerabilities being exploited in the wild to drop a cryptominerEnglish
1·10 days agoYes, I agree. From memory, I could see the files and watch movies from the pc that the server was installed on, the first time.
I can’t recall if I could, the second time, but probably. I certainly couldn’t see the movies, from the Nvidia Shield Pro, but it was possibly a router issue, not sure.

Technology@lemmy.world•Plex vulnerabilities being exploited in the wild to drop a cryptominerEnglish
2·10 days agoI’ll have another crack at it, it could be, but I’m also wondering if it’s a firewall thing somehow. Or perhaps my specific router (it’s a pretty good one, but perhaps it’s a specific model issue).
I will do some more forum searching and try to get to the bottom of it. Tbh, Plex has done everything that I’ve asked of it, partly why I’ve just used that for the time being, but I would like to get Jellyfin up and running. Cheers.

4·10 days agoI feel your pain, I’m using a 3060 rog strix 12gb card. It does everything that I want I to, but I’m biting my nails over how it’ll cope with AAA titles over the next 12+ months, at 1440p settings.

21·10 days agoSurely a me thing, but twice I’ve installed Jellyfin but couldn’t get my pc to see folders on the server, when trying to use my pc as the server for my content (only local viewing from my pc).
If I could work out how, I’d have switched.

Once I’ve weaned off of real coffee, it’ll be one instant a day, maximum. Sick of the cycle. It’s caused chronic fatigue - like symptoms and they’re horrible.
That’s fair enough, I don’t blame you. The weird thing about that having to be logged in thing, is that as soon as I deleted the app; voila, you can browse posts from Google results, even up-vote and pressumedly comment, without even being logged in. What a predatory app.
That’s a shame to hear… either way, I’m just glad to be off of Reddit. I wasn’t banned, just began to hate it with a passion.
It will grow exponentially, though, Reddi’s latest update removed the r/all sub and its pissed off a heck of a lot of users.
Imo it doesn’t even deserve to have consumers anymore, it’s basically a Facebook newsfeed now, merely without a friends list.
I decided to drop Reddit recently, it’s an ugly husk of what it once was.
I typed into Google “Reddit alternatives” and funnily enough, it was from a Reddit post that I learned about Sumit and Lemmy.World.

Cool drawing… nice one; it has an uncanny resemblance to someone that I used to know, seemingly a lifetime ago now.
