I was told by a native American at school in Montana that there is internal debate about what they ought to be called. In some opinions, “Native American” is just as much a name they didn’t give themselves as “Indian” was. But that was one guy I was friends with so I don’t know how widespread that opinion is.

I figured I’d take some flack, but c’mon, who wasn’t thinking it. It’s not something I think I have ever said aloud.

Because we are adults that understand and respect the rule of law, have lives , jobs, and families to risk, and are still hoping against hope that it doesn’t need to come down to civilians firing on federal agents because nothing is going to get better from that point for a little while, and it is almost certainly going to get a whole lot more worse before it gets better.

I’m really tired of the Rambo larp online. If you want to be on the front line if it finally happens, what you should be doing now is planning and staying low profile. Stock dry food, clean water, first aid supplies. Buy a ham and learn how to remove a bullet, then learn to suture the wound. Make friends, develop trust, form networks. Maybe learn how to use a real radio, that will be more useful than a basement full of 5.56. But please, for the love of God, stop inciting others to violence before you experience the violence for yourself.
