I have ended up in a really weird place in my life. I remember all the decisions I made that got me here, and none of them seemed like particularly good decisions, but it has worked out to the point that if I were to tell everyone here about it, it would look like a lie to make myself feel better. Life is not perfect for me but the problems I have are things I can solve.

This morning on the way to work, I watched a kid of maybe 10 riding a scooter and having to navigate around a couple of cars that were in such a godawful hurry for some reason. If he had been run over and killed, the driver of the car might have got a ticket. A citation. For killing a child, because he was trying to get to school.

Im still mad about it.

So does puncturing the tires.

While I will undoubtedly leave behind a lot of weird things, I don’t think anyone who knew me would be that shocked by anything I left behind.

My fear is that the stupid money people will weaponize what they percive to be a smart machine, and then fall back behind “The AI said so” as an excuse. People who understand computers know it isnt intelligent, but people who cant understand any concepts beyond “more money” will think it’s a god and act accordingly.

The feature I keep seeing in AI images is the way no straight line in the image aligns to the same vanishing point. The edges of the table line up here, the countertops line up here, the fridge here. Its glaring and it would also make it hard to plan a room.

If theyre exclusionary from the start, how is one to know what “skills” they are lacking? Maybe stop pushing newcomers out of the sport?

As I recall I never got the chance to be rude, and my bike was just fine. If I have to ride on eggshells to ride with a group I will just ride on my own.

I’ve decided that my next bike is going to be a cargo ebike, they just look so useful and it would be nearly free to ride around on.

Ive been falling off of bicycles and having a great time since I was six years old, and I couldn’t believe how people in my local riding groups acted. If you don’t have the “right” equipment then you aren’t one of us.

Thats fine, 20 years ago I got a recumbent and I’ve ridden the drivetrain off of it multiple times now. Im shopping for an e bike mostly because theyre different and ive never tried one.

A few times Ive had to tell my other half “Can we talk about literally anything else for the next hour”. I know what is going on because of the things you pointed out, and sometimes I want to exist for five minutes without hearing that the fbi is hiring puppy fuckers or whatever is happening today.

That’s fair. I wear mine in cooler months.

I live in a red state, and Id like to share what is done here to make sure there are plenty of R votes.

They put a lot of polling places in nursing homes. This means Ida and Jim can roll into the elevator and head down to the lobby to vote, while the people with jobs have to wait in line outside. They don’t have to find a ride, there are probably more people in the nursing home than there is waiting in line outside, and guess which news network is on the TV in the lounge/cafeteria all the time?
