Valve appears to be moving closer to the launch of the Steam Machine. The Steam machines, even though they’re Linux, will have age verification baked in so Valve can sell them in all the States of the USA and other countries that demand it.
Steam asks for date of birth already when creating the account.

Steam may ask but the laws want it implemented by the operating system, and SteamOS can do more than just play games within Steam.
