It’s so strange to me that the nose is perceived as a mouth, especially when the first panel clearly indicates that. Anyway, the message explains what I need to know. If that’s how it is, I’ll have to make the necessary adjustments.

It is clear if you directly compare the panels, but even then, intellectually knowing that it’s the nose doesn’t bypass the instinctual pattern recognition that tells me “yup that’s a smiling face”. Might be biased because I look a lot at Lego minifigures who have mouths and no noses, but I think in general, humans care more about the mouth than the nose when recognizing faces

I started adding the mouth because it does seem to confuse people, but it makes me uncomfortable. And sometimes I forget as I did with this comic.

Yeah, “ouch”, I’m not a really good artist, but you know what? I enjoy doing this. It brings me peace. If comics were only good from their art, we wouldn’t have strips like The Far Side. Ouch!

            Is it yours?

Then I must give you some recommendations:

            1: keep at it

            2: continue doing it

3: you only get better with time

Cheers from another artist, and sorry if my blunt critic got to you.
