Setting a language on post/comments have been a part of Summit for a while but due to it’s simple implementation it was a hassle to actually use.

This update greatly improves the experience around discussion languages.

This update also adds a lot of other small features and bug fixes.

Full changelog

  • Update tap-to-close image viewer gestures. Show/hide UI gesture has been moved to long press so that double-tap can be used for zoom in/out. This change only affects users with the tap-to-close image viewer setting enabled.
  • Add link option to unwrap a proxied image url. This option is only shown if the URL is detected to be a proxied image URL.
  • Change Summit to respect the repeat count in animated image formats. Eg. GIFs that have repeat once in the metadata are only played once.
  • Add support for the “transfer community ownership” mod action.
  • Update language chooser UI to be easier to use. Language chooser now has a search bar, and it will display up to 5 recently chosen languages.
  • Add a per-account default language choice on posts/comments.
  • Fix a bug where editing a post/comment will not automatically set the language.
  • Fix the mention context menu opening in a random part of the screen. It now correctly opens below the item that was long pressed.
  • Fix a crash when viewing an image full screen on older devices.

Update Fixed a bunch of crashes from my backlog of crashes. Some other bug fixes too. Releasing as v1.86.1.

  • Fix a crash when restoring the app when scroll between posts is enabled.
  • Fix a crash when opening an image full screen when browsing a multi-community.
  • Fix a rare crash that can occur when bookmarking a community.
  • Fix a bug where the community icon is shown instead of the poster’s icon in the post list if post layout is set to list and the user is on a specific community page.
  • Fix a bug with some spoiler tags failing to parse correctly.

    Would it be possible to add the name of the poster on this view?
    I believe there’s enough space for it, but I seemed to not be able to do it… =\

      The “list” layout is optimized for space usage while not feeling too compact. I recommend trying the layout List (old). It should have the behaviour you want.

        indeed it is… although the picture gets slightly smaller but I can live with that =D
        thanks for replying so quickly.

        as for other suggestions and bugs should I make each one a reply or is there a different way of going about those?

          You can adjust the size of the picture in settings. I think its something like Settings > Post feed > Appearance or something like that.

          For bugs and feature requests you can either reply to a release/wip post directly or create a new post. I usually review them in batches, so it might take a week or two for me to acknowledge the feature request.
