Doug Ford keeps on getting reelected, his brother was the mayor of Toronto despite the drugs and overall unseriousness… I mean why do people elect these guys? Is it for the memes and laughs?

I’m being totally serious when I ask this btw. What does the average Doug voter’s rationale for getting this guy in office? Same with former Rob Ford voters. Who voted for Rob Ford? Why?

Edit: TLDR of the answers seem to be:

  • Horrible effect of fptp, vote split between liberals, ndp and the greens
  • Low voter turnout

Because the Liberals who came before him were worse

For reasons no one can actually state. Ford is running record deficits and has ballooned the debt, while cutting all services, and how many private jets did the Liberals order?

Boomers still go on about Bob Rae and having a Lesbian Premiere really triggered the hicks in Ontario.

We need two sets of laws for Ontario. In Toronto we want speed cameras, some roads closed to cars. I get that it’s not an issue in N. Ontario. I’d even let 14 year olds drive in N. Ontario because of the distances, if we make people start by driving a small 1L car, before being allowed to buy an SUV in the Greater Toronto Area.
