If you thought that pineapple on pizza was a bit weird, you won’t believe what the latest pizza topping fad is - acorns! The crunchy topping with the nutty flavour is perfect for pizza, and since its debut at the prestigious Windy Frog restaurant in the culinary capital of the UK, Slough, it has taken the country by storm.

Autumn is the time of year to collect fresh acorns and add them to your pizza, or simply bake them for 10 minutes at 200 degrees C, and have them as a delicious side dish.

With the supermarket Waitrose bringing its line off acorn pizzas to the shelves soon, now is the time to try the nutty goodness for yourself!

    That looks great!

My grandmother had a recipe from Bologna: It said to soak the acorns in vinegar for an hour first and then season them with basil and salt. Which really brought out some rich flavours.
