It is more a question of Europe separating itself from an economic and military ally of 90 years. It is a political and economical infrastructure that needs a complete overhaul, and it is not something that is done overnight.
Of course there is the added problem for these right wing leaders like Meloni, of them having been very positive of Trump ideologically speaking in the past, which they now need to extricate themselves from without people remembering how fascist they really are.
