I’ve had Basil plants for 3 years and these wood from basil posts still confuse me, do I have to kill the plant to see it’s wood?
What does it mean to produce true wood? Can basil turn into wood somehow?

This didn’t happen on its own, it’s a basil grafted on some kind of heartier base.
Instructions unclear, got wood from basil.
