Yeah, if you want to trip on DXM find the Robitussin soft gel capsules. They don’t have any additional stuff. But always check the active ingredients to be sure.

Don’t use NyQuil/DayQuil unless you hate your liver.

I’m not encouraging OTC drug abuse, just advocating harm reduction. If information on safer drug use was more readily available, a lot of the harms could be mitigated. Erowid is a great resource, and probably the reason I lived through my adolescence. Knowledge is power, folks. Equip yourself with it.

Everyone, please be aware, that in September your donation (usually) gets doubled

So please everyone chip in to keep this treasure of harm reduction alive

1200mg of tylenol is fine for an adult to consume and nowhere near overdosing. 650mg is a pretty common dose of pills that are just tylenol by itself, and generally you can take up to 6 of those in a day without consequence. Thats nearly 4 grams in 24 hours and you would be just fine. Meanwhile most pills that contain it as a supplemental part of a combination contain 325mg or thereabout.

That said, you dont want to be taking that much tylenol every day or anything, since its still hard on your liver even if its not dangerous. But the point remains that 1200mg of tylenol is well within a normal amount of tylenol to consume.

Its honestly not that easy to overdose on tylenol unless you intentionally try to do so. Its not fentanyl smh

A lot of people don’t realize it’s in NyQuil, and if they drink the whole bottle hoping to get a cheap high then they’re taking wayyy too much acetaminophen without really knowing that they’re taking any.

          Its actually not that hard.

Let’s say you don’t really read the labels that often and are super sick and take 6 Tylenol over the course of a day, that’s 3,900 mg right there. Let’s say you also take 4 doses of dayquil/nightquil and thats another 1,400mg and your already like a thousand mg over overdose threshold.

Taking that much of any over the counter medication without paying attention to dosage or labels is not “easy to overdose”. Thats “being an idiot”.

Easy to “overdose” would be something like naproxen sodium (alleve) where you shouldnt take more than two tablets in 12 hours. It would be understandable if someone took two and then took another one or two 6 hours later thinking it would be okay.

Even if someone did stupidly do what you describe, taking 5 grams of tylenol over the course of a day isnt going to melt your liver and kill you. It just will cause minor liver damage, which is generally not what people consider truly overdosing and is going to be unnoticeable to the average person. To actually OD on tylenol in an immediately dangerous way would require a lot more than 5 grams of tylenol, even if someone took it all in one go. Which again, is unrealistic for anyone other than an incredibly stupid and reckless individual
