All governments, both state and fed, should have policies that have nothing to do with and may often entirely ignore religious preferences. Since religion is arbitrary, it leads to all kinds of crazy things, like it’s against my religion to be incarcerated. Religion should be entirely ignored by lawful regulated process, and should only exist in private.
Yes which is insane. Even the motto in god we trust should not appear on anything government related, and it should have nothing to do with if people like it or not. It should be disallowed by default because it’s illegal to do so.

They don’t though: Certain religions can get lots of preferential treatment at times.
