Then fund it properly dammit.
Also why does all the responsibility fall on CBC to provide local news coverage? My municipal government doesn’t know how to run a facebook page much less organize community events. My local police department won’t share anything with anyone, including reporters and even the fire department acts like everything they do is top-secret for national security. Governments, police and other emergency responders are a public service, same as CBC is, and being open and accountable to their communities should be part of their role too. It’s not just “public relations” it needs to be part of their actual duty and purpose. Dumping all the responsibility on CBC’s shoulders feels like there’s a lot of buck-passing going on. It shouldn’t take veteran investigative journalists working all over the country just to figure out what is going in a community. This is a multifaceted problem and other organizations that work in our communities need to be held accountable too.
Do not convince them to use the book of faces, we want to encourage non US citizens to use either local things or open standards.
Because the local news outlets everywhere have been killed by Facebook.
