The same way we totally weren’t in Iraq, I’m sure! That is, with boots on the ground, senior officers embedded in the US Army directing brigades, commandering ships in the Persian Gulf, surveillance planes in the air, and intelligence ears wide open.
It is highly unlikely that we don’t currently have troops embedded in the US military currently deployed. US/Canadian military is one of world’s most integrated. And I’m sure you can guess who carries the weight.
