This seems like good advice, I fear we will all be affected eventually.

Microsoft no longer takes security very seriously, and thats what all these legacy servers are running on. Microsoft is opting for pumping out more and more AI slop and data mining, hopefully we can get to a point where servers are running docker containers with fully signed code rather than what theyre doing now.

I was an Apple fan girl until Trump started making his 51st state threats, Tim Cook gave Trump that Golden Apple trophy or plaque and I became even less of an Apple fan girl. I have replaced all of my apple services with either Canada hosted or self hosted and the *arr stack. I refuse to use Microsoft stuff now, I was cool with it when the MSN days where the chat tool of choice, it was not cool but I used OpenOffice to save things in the .doc formate in university but I stuck with Apple for everything else. I am stuck with iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS until I can afford to replace those but I have moved to a Debian fork for the raspberry pi for everything else.

I self host immich, to replace Apple photos. I self host NextCloud, to replace iCloud. I self host Valtwarden, to replace Apple passwords. I self host Jellyfin, to replace almost every US media company I use Unwatched to remove google ads from youtube. I self host Home Assistant as I am on the way to replace Apple Home, I get closer every other day or so. If I had the money I would be replacing my ring camera and doorbell with something that worked better with Home Assistant.

As of today I stepped up my ad blocking with self hosting searXNG, it is an internet search engine. I say stepped up my ad blocking because of my piholes, Unwatched, and using different emails for everything. If I could I would find more ways to block ads because most of what I see are hosted by Google and are for US services.
