    One of the things I found incredible in Japan is nearly ever temple has a sign outside describing just how may times its burned down

      I don’t know how you can tell if the flame survived the fire, or if the fire totally destroyed and has replaced the flame.

      In the article I read they are not discounting the eternal flame itself, so I think they’re doing their due diligence
