Everyone is rightfully making fun of ol’ Jimmy Jack, but the chain of events here is he bought a product based on claims by the maker and then used the product for those claimed features. Fraud is a crime. Texas needs to make more arrests.

Geez, a person would have to think for like 2, maybe even 5 seconds to forsee how this plays out. Instead of buying apples from the orchard, we’ll be buying apples from the local apple thieves. Hey, why are there no more apples?

Do not adjust the gas tax for 33 years, do not listen to all the civil engineers telling you heavy vehicles do almost all road damage, and propose a tax with no method of enforcement. Brilliant leadership out of DC.
Maybe. It depends on how the OP statement is conceptualized. They specify “school kids” and school is only in session about half of days. Also, people over the age of 17 attend school and it isn’t uncommon to refer to someone in their 20s as a “kid”. Even worst case scenario for OP, we’re talking the difference of four months versus two months. I’m not sure that’s a hill to die on or even point out.
Maybe. Though, as MacKenzie Scott has demonstrated, someone who isn’t a pathological wealth hoarder can do an insane amount of good in the world with billions of dollars. There might be some more MacKenzies among the many, many inheritors after The Best Two Months. Also, there will be a good mix of hedonists, free spirits, and good old fashioned fuckups who will increase the velocity of money.
You know where would be a great spot for a data center? Martha’s Vineyard.

I mean, what do you want us to do? Index tax taxes or make them percentage based so they don’t go 33 years being eaten away by inflation? Create a system that actually pays for the roads it needs to exist instead of saddling the future with massive debt? Not make it legally difficult to impossible for any alternative forms of transport to exist or at least be usable by sane people? That all sounds impossible. /s

Classic Fortune, sowing the seeds of blaming labor for every problem. Though, they should be careful because these Hynix/Samsung stories are showing the world how much the parasite class cheats workers. You suppose Micron workers who thought they had a good deal making high five-figures are looking at these bonuses and suddenly developing class consciousness?

I have watched Waterworld. There is a lot to like (concept, practical effects, Hopper as the villain), but there is a lot lacking (writing, about something, also Hopper as the villain). They should have finished the script instead of barreling ahead. They needed someone in the room to manage Costner’s ego. It’s a very mid Mad Max “inspired” film, of which the 80s/90s had many. The Salute of the Jugger/The Blood of Heroes is about on par and it didn’t cost the GDP of a small nation.
Sharknado had a tornado filled with sharks with not much more special effects budget, and that was 13 years ago (how the time flies- like sharks in a tornado). We not trying to win Academy Awards for VFX with these demakes.

The Chinese probably gave them normal gifts, pins, and phones because why waste money on tech when top secret files are stored in the bathroom and POTUS tweets sensitive information?
Nice idea, but you’d never get funding. So lean into it. Instead of remaking flops, demake them. Redo Battlefield Earth or Waterworld on a half million dollar budget. As the world watches your film with effects that would make Sharknado blush they will finally ask “what is art?”

Because we select our leaders via rigged popularity contests then let them sit in office with zero accountability, zero modern standards for hiring or work oversight, and “performance evaluations” every 2-6 years. Imagine running a company that way.

Depends what you mean. If, as the commentators appear to be assuming, you mean you lost a yelling match with the worst person imaginable at lunch then no, not a great idea to change your mind. If, as someone who assumes you are a reasonable competent human would, you mean a specific point which has been thoroughly examined for some time, then yes, change your mind.

I have to hand it to his handlers, this is a very lateral thinking move for dealing with the perceived problem of immigration. 800k fewer immigrants in the USA with the stroke of a pen. Genius.

Sounds like a problem one of our super genius god brain billionaires should be able to solve before lunch.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but shouldn’t something generating the heat of several atom bombs be utilized as a heat source for making energy, instead of energy used to cool it?
“Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions” -Thomas Jefferson. Don’t get mad, and also don’t come right at them with the ridicule as they expect that and are prepared. Simply start agreeing with them and see how far you can take it.
