Sometime ago I bought a Peugeot pepper mill and it came with a small sample of their own black pepper. I was shocked at how much stronger, hot and nice the taste and smell was compared whatever I had in a jar from the grocery store. It reminded me of black pepper I was used to some decades ago back in Europe.

I bought a few packets of this Peugeot pepper and it really is great, but it’s also expensive. Given what I know about coffe and irs flavours, I’m guessing most of it comes down to how fresh the pepper is.

Do you know of a source that sells fresh black pepper?

Silk Road Spice Merchant, out of Calgary.

Not only do they carry top-tier spices, but they likely have multiple types of black pepper for you to play with. And they’re good people.

Cannot speak highly enough about them.

Black pepper arrived. It’s the bomb. It only accentuates how sad whatever-the-fuck FreshCo sold my wife is. The difference is so stark, it’s like a different spice altogether.

Next time you order from Silk Road, make sure to throw in some of their vanilla and the Ceylon cinnamon - both put the grocery store ones to shame.

I also love their BBQ spice rubs. And basically everything else they sell.
